Our Mission

The mission of the Thin Blue Line LEMC Lonestar Chapter Octoberbreast Ride & Event is to raise breast cancer awareness while providing meaningful, direct financial support to women and families in our local communities who are facing the challenges that come with a breast cancer diagnosis.

As members of the law enforcement community, we believe service extends far beyond the uniform. Our commitment is to stand beside the communities we serve—not only in our everyday professions, but also during the moments when our neighbors need support the most.

Through the generosity of our members, sponsors, local businesses, fellow chapters, volunteers, riders, and the public, we strive to make a real and personal difference in the lives of local families.

How Octoberbreast Began

Octoberbreast began with one woman, one diagnosis, and a simple act of selflessness.

In October 2021, the Thin Blue Line LEMC Lonestar Chapter organized what was intended to be a benefit for the wife of our Chapter President after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

When we approached her about holding the benefit, her response changed the direction of the event—and ultimately created a tradition that continues today.

She explained that she was fortunate. She had insurance to help cover her medical needs, and she and her husband were financially secure enough to face the road ahead. Rather than accepting financial assistance for herself, she asked us to use the opportunity to help other women and members of the law enforcement community who might not be as fortunate.

So we went to work.

Our inaugural Octoberbreast Ride & Event was held in 2021 and was met with tremendous support. What began as a single benefit quickly showed us that the need within our own community was far greater than we realized.

We made the decision to continue.

Octoberbreast became an annual event.

Each year since, we have learned, adapted, grown, and worked to make the event bigger and more successful. Most importantly, we have remained committed to the reason it began: helping local people when help matters most.

Keeping Our Support Local

One of the principles at the heart of Octoberbreast is simple:

The money raised here stays here.

Our focus is on assisting breast cancer patients and families within Montgomery County, Texas, and surrounding counties.

Recipients frequently come to our attention through members of the community who know someone struggling through a breast cancer diagnosis. We gather their information, learn about their circumstances, and work to provide assistance whenever funds are available.

We have seen firsthand how great the need can be. In fact, the number of people brought to our attention has at times been overwhelming.

That is why every rider, every participant, every auction bidder, every volunteer, every vendor, and especially every sponsor matters.

The more support Octoberbreast receives, the more support we are able to give back.

Since the event’s inception, Octoberbreast has provided approximately $52,000 in donations to deserving local women and families affected by breast cancer.

And we intend to keep growing.

More Than Writing a Check

For the members of the Lonestar Chapter, Octoberbreast isn’t finished when the fundraiser ends.

One of the most meaningful traditions associated with Octoberbreast happens afterward, when it is time to deliver the donations.

We don’t simply put a check in the mail.

We ride.

Members of Thin Blue Line LEMC gather together, climb aboard our motorcycles, and ride directly to the recipient’s home to meet her and her family personally.

The arrival can be difficult to miss.

Twenty or thirty Harley-Davidson motorcycles rumbling into an otherwise quiet neighborhood tends to get a little attention.

But when the engines shut down, something very different happens.

We introduce ourselves. We tell the family who we are, why Octoberbreast exists, and how an entire community of riders, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters came together to help make that moment possible.

Then we gather around the recipient and her family.

We pray with them for strength, healing, health, and the road ahead.

And then we present the donation.

Those moments have become some of the most powerful experiences associated with Octoberbreast.

There are tears. There are hugs. There is laughter. There is gratitude.

And there are usually quite a few bikers and law enforcement officers suddenly finding very good reasons to keep their dark sunglasses on.

Those moments remind us exactly why we do this.

Behind every diagnosis is a person. Behind that person is a family. And behind that family should be a community willing to stand beside them.

The Ride & Event

Octoberbreast brings together motorcycles, law enforcement, businesses, families, and members of the public for a day centered around awareness, community, fellowship, and giving back.

The day includes an escorted motorcycle ride led by trained Road Captains from the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. Following the ride, participants return to the event venue for lunch and an afternoon of fundraising and entertainment.

A major part of the event is our live auction, made possible through items and contributions donated by our generous supporters and sponsors.

And then there is an Octoberbreast tradition that is difficult to explain until you’ve witnessed it yourself.

Our male models take to the catwalk wearing one-of-a-kind bras handmade and creatively decorated by the ladies who support Octoberbreast.

They model them proudly.

Sometimes gracefully.

Sometimes not.

But always for a cause that matters.

It has become one of the most entertaining and memorable parts of the event while reminding everyone that raising awareness and supporting people through difficult circumstances can bring a community together through laughter as well as compassion.

Local vendors and sponsors also join us throughout the day, creating a small shopping experience and giving participants another opportunity to support the businesses and organizations that support our community.

Open to Everyone

Although Octoberbreast is organized by the Thin Blue Line LEMC Lonestar Chapter and receives tremendous support from fellow Thin Blue Line LEMC chapters, this is a community event and everyone is welcome.

You do not have to be in law enforcement.

You do not have to belong to a motorcycle club.

And you do not have to ride a motorcycle.

You simply have to believe in helping people.

Whether you ride with us, attend the event, bid in the auction, become a vendor, volunteer, sponsor the event, make a donation, or simply help spread the word, you become part of the Octoberbreast mission.

Why We Do It

Thin Blue Line LEMC is a law enforcement motorcycle organization, but the people behind the badge, the motorcycle, and the club patch are also members of the communities we serve.

We are neighbors.

We are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, friends and coworkers.

We believe our responsibility to our communities does not end when the workday does.

Octoberbreast gives us an opportunity to show another side of law enforcement and another side of the motorcycle community—one built around service, compassion, brotherhood, generosity, and a willingness to show up when someone needs us.

We want our communities to know who we are.

We want them to know what we stand for.

Most importantly, we want them to know that when one of our neighbors is facing one of the hardest fights of her life, she does not have to fight it alone.

The need continues to grow, which means our mission must grow with it.

Every year, we seek businesses, organizations, community partners, and individuals willing to stand beside us as sponsors and supporters of Octoberbreast.

Larger sponsorships don’t simply make for a larger event.

They allow us to help more people.

Every dollar raised represents another opportunity to provide meaningful assistance to someone in our community facing breast cancer.

Our goal is not simply to make Octoberbreast bigger every year.

Our goal is to make its impact bigger.

More awareness.

More community involvement.

More families reached.

More people helped.

And more reminders that when a community comes together for the right reason, an ordinary motorcycle ride can become something extraordinary.
